long wait

So three years ago my family and I were on vacation in Orlando, Florida. Since we live in the northern US we decided to enjoy the fresh, delicious seafood this state had to offer. Unfortunately, “fresh” and “delicious” seafood was not the case at one restaurant we went to, a “family-friendly” buffet style restaurant in the southwestern […]

This happened to my best friend and me about a year ago at an Italian themed restaurant that prides itself on customers being “family.” This is one of our favorite restaurants and we’ve never once had a problem there until this experience happened.

My boyfriend’s mother took us, her other kids and their significant others, and her boyfriend (8 people) to lunch as a celebration of us all being in town. She chose a large, notoriously busy, and pricey Italian place. We were all excited for some good quality food.

The bane of every server’s existence are the words, “We’re in a hurry.” This means two things:  1. These people don’t understand the concept of a sit-down restaurant and 2. Nothing you do to rush is good enough for their tight schedule. The tip usually reflects these facts.

Me and an old boyfriend went out to eat one night at a chain family style restaurant. I ordered myself chicken fingers with honey dill sauce and Caesar salad. The server never mentioned any issues with my order and proceeded to bring out our drinks. Honey dill sauce is a chicken finger dip made from […]

My boyfriend and I attempted to eat at a restaurant we used to frequent when we first started dating. We went for lunch. They were pretty slow; just an elderly couple, a family with a baby, and another couple who came in with us. When we went in we were told to sit wherever we […]

And […]

It was two or three years ago on Veteran’s Day, also my brother’s birthday, and we decided to go to a common chain restaurant. Due to it being Veteran’s Day, the restaurant was packed with military personnel. There was a two hour wait. There were two things wrong with the wait. Number one was that my […]

My wife and I are retired. We are active and financially secure, and enjoy dining out three to five times a month. For a variety of reasons, our appetites are not what they used to be and we don’t drink alcoholic beverages. Normally we split an entrée and an appetizer, and have iced tea or […]

I am not shy to say this is regarding the Bob’s B** B** restaurant in El Cajon, California. This place was an epic disappointment!! To start the hostess/waitress was very short and placed us at a dirty table when the whole restaurant was empty. The “kids menu” was a laminated black and white copy that you […]

Slow Service & No Ice

in Server Stories

My friend and I were at a burger place (think Brooklyn). We were repeat customers; never had a bad experience. We walked in the place, sat down, and a few minutes later we decided to move to the outside tables. The server seemed annoyed about this but he was still fine. We probably waited 10 […]
