A Hairy Ordeal

in Food & Drink Stories

My hairy ordeal happened in a local establishment that I used to frequent quite often. This day I decided to order a grilled cheese. They make a fabulous grilled cheese using three different cheeses and sour dough bread. It’s awesome. Well it was. I had just taken a couple of bites when I noticed something sticking out of my sandwich. At first I thought it was just a string of burnt cheese, then quickly realized it was on the cut edge, so I peeled the bread back to see hair. Not just one but a little clump of hair in my grilled cheese. I was instantly nauseous. Had I just eaten hair?

So I tell the waitress who was very kind, apologized and ran off to tell the manager. Who never apologized, and just said he’d give me a whole 10% off since I had already eaten some of it, even though I explained that had I seen that hair I wouldn’t have eaten at all. Nice! Needless to say that was the last time I ate there.

I would have refused to pay anything and just left.

I would have done the same thing but taken a picture of the hair first.

Proof is the best when it comes on this situation. I would have taken the sandwich to the manager and made him eat it. And I will never return again, customers are always right. That's the main thing he should consider specially in the cleanliness and neatness of the food.

Perhaps, I would refuse to pay for it however I would not make any further noise about what had happened. Restaurant personnel can sometimes make mistakes they don't intend to do. They are just human being. However, if it will happen again, you must do some proper actions.

honestly i've pulled hair from my food on a couple of occasions and continued eating. Its compressed dead skin cells, was healthier than the tons of microbes swarming all over even the most cleanly of foods. Stop being pansywaists

I would have refused to pay for the meal with hair, any meals or separate items that were completely finished and fine should still be paid for.
